ghostbusters

growning up in the late 80's - early 90's i was always a fan of the 80's style movies, my all time fav trilogy being back to the future and my all time fav double being the ghostbuster franchise so a current build i am working on and have been working on for some time is the ghostbuster proton pack.
i started work on this totally from scratch, looking at pictures on the internet of what the packs look like and i think i have got a pretty good representation of the pack. at the minute it is still a card model and no fiberglass, but this is the 3rd build so far just because due to the nature of the build the lighting rig inside is actually encapsulated within the build, i could have made it so that it could be changed and worked on but it would also comprimise the build quality of the finished product so i ave decided not to. also LED's have a surprisingly long lifespan, as long as they get the right amount of power they will never blow so there is no need to change them.

so first things first the proton wand

next is the whole pack its self. fully wired up to the proton wand, but in such a way that the wand can be seperated if needed to for storage or what ever

the wireing inside is very particular. i wanted a way in wich i could full control the lighting in the pack and the wand without having to keep taking the pack off and on again every time. so this is what i came up with. The wand its self has 3 flick switches on it, the first switch not only turns on the nice blue glowing LED on the wand but its also the main power switch for everything
the next switch powers just the lights on the wand
the lights on the wand include 2 red LED, one on the top and one on the box at the back, 2 orange LED, one on the clear panel at the back and one on top, 2 white LED, one on the top and one on the front and finally there is a green super bright LED that is at the front for the laser part, wich is controlled by a simple push button

the final switch on the wand controls the lights on the proton pack itself
the lights i have in the pack are 5 red LED and 1 blue LED. the red LED i have set so that 4 of them are constantly flashing
the 5th red LED is actually inside the number part you can see in the bottom corner. i chose the number 85 for the sole reason that is my birth year, no other reason than that lol

the blue LED is up in the top corner of the proton pack
in day light these are in no way as effective as they are in the dark but u get the idea.

i ave also designed the pack with the same type of locking mechanism that is used in the film to hold the wand onto the pack and it looks very effective
all in all i am happy with the progress so far just need to get the fibergalss done as well as paint and then to get the jumpsuit and go ghostbusting hehe
